Hello Fellow Heat Seekers! I really want to thank all of you for your pictures, comments and posts on out Face Book Page, Twitter and Instagram! We hope to post some of your smiling faces and killer food pics soon! Keep sending them, we love seeing all of them! This is my first pass at writing a blog and I think I will start with a recount of some of the fun things HazMat has been doing this month for those of you who may have missed them. The Bacon for Bacon Fundraiser on April 11th was a BLAST! This event was for Pinnacles National Park to help raise funds to make improvements on the Bacon House… a homestead house that is on site to show guests what it was like to settle in this area. Sowabunga Pork was debuted there with a massive, organic, slow roasted pig. Imagine if you will….juicy, BBQ pork on a hot tortilla, beans and HazMat topped with crispy veggies! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! Icing on the cake was the live music from Condor Soaring, who by the way was AWESOME! Our trip was complete when the ranger came into the area, set up a telescope and zeroed in on one of the magnificent California Condors. What an honor to see that! These folks plan to do another similar event toward the fall when the heat is not so intense… I promise to alert you when I know more!  I have been a paramedic for over 31 years and have had the pleasure of working with some really great people, many of which who share my passion for hot sauce. It all began when one of the firehouses started growing their own chiles. Every week or so, they would give me their chile harvest expecting me to return with a big jar of hot sauce for the station. Boldly taking the challenge, I would go home, open all the doors and windows, don my mask, gloves and goggles, and get to work like a mad scientist in a hazardous materials lab! Fearlessly, these brave first responders tried every variation I created. I knew I was on to something when they started asking for more… “HazMat” was born! For this award winning hot sauce, I’ve combined sweet, ripe apricots with blazing hot habañeros to create a blend of natural ingredients that is not only dangerously hot, but amazingly flavorful! With your safety being my primary concern, I have taken the necessary precautions to contain this dangerous concoction into each bottle so that it may be transported to your home or station.
